The Friday 56

This is my first shot at doing Friday 56, which is a weekly book meme hosted by Freda’s Voice. I’ve seen a few other posts about it and thought it looked cool, so here goes!

Firstly, the rules, for anyone else who wants to join in:

simples_fb_1567463

*Grab a book, any book                                                                                  *Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader(If you have to improvise, that’s ok.)
*Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it)
*Post it.

So I picked Maggie Stiefvater’s The Raven King, the conclusion to one of my favourite book series, and here’s the quote from page 56:

Gansey was still talking into his phone. “No, traffic is nonexistent unless it’s a bingo night.”

Any else love this series?

I’m biased – Maggie Stiefvater is one of my all time favourite authors; I’ve read and loved all her books – but I do really recommend this series. It’s starts a little slow but once you get into it it’s brilliant. 🙂

Thanks for commenting! Don’t get me started on trying to explain it to people! I tried convincing a friend of mine once, and I was like well it has dead welsh kings, psychics, ravens, an orange camaro, and the characters are amazing… And they just looked at me funny and asked what a camaro was. Sigh. 🙂

I tried reading this series back in high school but couldn’t get into it. I keep meaning to try it again.
Also that quote rings true to anyone from a small town!

Thanks for commenting! I found the first half or so of the first book a bit slow, but after that I really got into the book and I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the series. You should definitely give it another shot. 🙂

Aw, I was going to feature this one next week! We love the series and only a pregnancy and childbirth and such have been keeping us from getting to the final installment, but we can’t wait!
