Top 10 Tuesday!!!
This week’s topic is:
August 30: Back To School Freebie — anything “back to school” related like 10 favorite books I read in school, books I think should be required reading, Required Reading For All Fantasy Fans, required reading for every college freshman, Books to Pair With Classics or Books To Complement A History Lesson, books that would be on my classroom shelf if I were a teacher
I picked books to complement a history lesson, but instead of giving many examples of good books about a specific era, I tried to vary the historical context a bit. Enjoy!

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly book meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Check it out here.

Great list – I’ve read at least five of these and I love your choice of topic!

Not to hate on the history of Canada (because without it I’m not sure me would be me–but I digress), but I would have much rather read any one of these books you’ve listed than so many of the snoozefest of facts that I’m sure I’ve forgotten by now haha.
Cheers,

I cannot wait to read Lair of Dreams. I’m rereading The Diviners right now so that I’ll actually remember the plot once I start LoD, and I think I love it more than I did the first time.
I kind of want to read Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell… except that it’s so unbelievably long. The show just got added to Netflix and I’m trying to decide if I should read the book first… or… well, I should read it first, but I’m trying to decide if I’m going to, haha.

The tv show is really, really good too – it sticks quite closely to the novel. It took me ages to read Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, but it was sooo worth it! 🙂

This was such an interesting take on the topic! I’m always looking for new books on the Salem Witch Trails and anything that has to do with the 20’s. Thanks for the list!

I’m just about to write up my top ten Tuesday for this topic! I loved reading Goodnight, Mr Tom, which is about a young boy who is evacuated from London to the countryside during World War Two.

Did you ever read the Royal Diaries series by Scholastic? They were awesome! I learned so much more about history from that series than I ever did in school!
